DIN EN 1090 — Steel and aluminium structures
EN 1090 governs the manufacture of structural steel and aluminium components and is a prerequisite for their CE marking as construction products. It requires factory production control (FPC) certified by a notified body.
What does the standard cover?
The standard assigns components to execution classes EXC1 to EXC4 according to consequences of failure and loading, and specifies the design, manufacturing and inspection requirements for each class. Factory production control underpins certification, demonstrating consistent manufacturing quality and enabling CE marking of construction products.
Who is the standard relevant to?
- Steel and aluminium construction businesses manufacturing structural components
- Companies needing CE marking for construction products
- Businesses with ISO 3834 certification working towards EN 1090 certification
